Hello WL-S families and Happy New Year!  Tomorrow is our first day of school in 2021.  I hope everyone has had a wonderful break with your families.  COVID has continued to impact our community and Ohio however, I am hopeful that we will start to see a turn for the better with vaccines soon to be available to the general public.  We will be returning to 5 day per week instruction for all students beginning tomorrow.  That means that your children's schedules, bus stop times, etc. will all return to normal as it was prior to starting hybrid instruction.  Also, all Free and Reduced Breakfast and Lunches will continue for all students for the remainder of this school year.  This was extended by the federal government for all schools.  We will also be allowing additional people to attend athletic events.  OHSAA will return to the 15% rule for attendance capacity.  More information will be provided on this.  Our hope is that more students, families, and friends will be able to attend events.  Last, I want to remind all families, to continue to monitor your health each day.  If you are not feeling well, please use cautiion when deciding to come to school.  We want to continue to ensure that the school is a safe and healthy place for everyone and we can only do that if we work together.  We are excited to see you all in 2021!

The West Liberty-Salem FFA donated 8 bushels of Florida navel oranges to the Food Service Department this week. Several of the Food Service workers alongside the Transportation crew were busy all morning on Friday, December 18th bagging up over 2100 breakfasts/lunches to be delivered to our students' homes. The WL-S FFA wants to give them a huge shout out for all of their efforts to continue feeding our students during Hybrid Learning time! It takes a special crew to have such drive and initiative!

FFA had a little holiday fun today to celebrate surpassing their fruit sale goal! This morning, Mrs. Havens treated the seniors to a fantastic full course breakfast because they surpassed their expected sales goal. Freshman were within just dollars of meeting their goal, so they were treated to an ice cream sundae bar. Thanks, Mrs. Havens! The students really enjoyed the treat! (All foods were served to students by the same person who took all standard safety precautions.).

Elementary Specials teachers have been really busy creating festive ways to help celebrate the holidays. And while Covid might have taken our Christmas Program, we can still “spread Christmas cheer by singing loud for all to hear!” (Elf) Every student in K-5 visited elementary, middle school, high school, and administration, singing outside class room and office windows, where captive audiences of all ages were eager to sing along! Enjoy a short video of our 5th graders singing ‘Up on the House Top’, and ‘Jingle Bells’! https://youtu.be/iwx_7IkeKdo
