As eBooks become more popular due to ease of access, we are still teaching the value of a library! Students are learning how to navigate the shelves with a scavenger hunt type of activity. This week, they are learning how to find fiction titles. These exercises apply to any library, just not WL-S!

100 days smarter! 100 days brighter! First graders starred in the annual 100 days of school fashion show. Students are tasked with decorating a shirt with 100 objects. They glue, sew, paint, and pin everything from feathers to buttons, stickers and pom poms. They get really creative! There is never a winner of the fashion show. It’s just a chance to showcase their creativity to their peers, teachers and administrators. They did a fantastic job!
100 days in kindergarten! Students dressed like they were 100 years old and enjoyed a fun morning of 100 day activities!
Kids Heart Challenge Part II
Kids Heart Challenge, formerly Hoops for Hearts, always wraps up with a fun, active day of play, exercise, and friendship. There was an obstacle course (even Mr. Sullivan took a lap!), jump ropes, basketball, dancing, hula hoops, and cup stacking to name a few activities. Students enjoyed the extra gym time and correlating what they learned about healthy hearts with being active. Let’s keep moving!
WOW! THANK YOU to everyone who helped elementary students donate to American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge! We raised an unbelievable $20,000 for the second year in a row, surpassing their original goal of $15,000.
Kids Heart Challenge, formerly Hoops for Hearts, is a program designed to teach our students about people with special hearts, while raising money for healthy hearts everywhere. During the Kids Heart Challenge students are taught the risks of using tobacco, heart conditions, tips for eating healthy, being physically active and managing stress. They are given tools to make decisions that leave them feeling confident in improving and maintaining their own health, while also helping improve the study and treatment of kids and adults with heart disease.. We are thrilled to know that our students, their families, community, and our staff will make an impact with such an exceptional donation. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible! If you’d like to learn more about healthy living. Kids Heart Challenge website is full of resources that will encourage your family to adapt to a healthIer lifestyle. Ask your student what they learned about making their hearts happy and healthy!

Fourth grade Good Apples celebrate their success during the second nine weeks on Friday! They are rewarded for good behavior and being responsible all quarter. This means that they are always prepared with both in class work and homework, no missing assignments, and maintained good behavior reports during class, lunch and specials. Keep doing your Tiger best!

Mrs. Dallas' students created Valentine's boxes in hopes of winning one of several awards! Each student was awarded a certificate in one of many categories. Each design was unique and truly showed their personalities! Great job!
Super Bowl 2023, fourth grade style. Fourth graders had a super bowl party that included fun games, trivia, and crafts! They had fun engaging in friendly competition and sharing what their favorite Super Bowl snacks will be!
The boys and girls swim teams will compete in the Sectional Championship on Friday and Saturday. There are a limited number of tickets per participant available at https://www.ohsaa.org/tickets. Go Tigers!
Mrs. Stayrook is teaching first graders a "half dozen ways to be kind", and it was a sweet day! They began their day with donuts and ended by painting kindness rocks. They created sweet little hearts on their rocks with red painted thumb prints. They are learning ways to be polite and kind to their friends, while incorporating other lessons along the way!
