Savannah Weaver and Cade Clerico were recently awarded the 2019/20 “That Tiger” award by the Marchal family in honor of their son and brother, Devin. Devin, a senior this year at WL-S, passed away in 2018 as the result of an automobile accident. This senior award, in his honor, recognizes one boy and girl from the senior class who encompass the many characteristics of the Boy Scout code where Devin was an Eagle Scout. Weaver and Clerico were selected for the award based on nominations from their fellow classmates and teachers. They were asked to select students who are trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, brave, cheerful and revert. Both Weaver and Clerico received gifts, a very appropriately masked Tiger, and their certificate from the Marchal family in a brief private ceremony on Saturday, May 2, 2020. Congratulations to both Savannah Weaver and Cade Clerico for being “That Tiger” and to the Marchal family for your continued support of our students in Devin’s memory and honor.

We are excited for the 2020 West Liberty-Salem Volleyball Season. We would like anyone interested in playing volleyball and will be in the 7th-12th grade in the fall to please email Head Coach Annie Kauffman at: annkauffman@wlstigers.org with their contact information.
Our season officially begins August 1st with mandatory practices. We will have a summer schedule out as soon as we can. Many things are still up in the air.
We will have an informational meeting soon, most likely via Zoom, once everyone signs up. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Any current 6th or 7th grader interested in learning more about playing jr high football next year please email Coach Dan McGill at dmcgill@wlstigers.org . Coach McGill will need your name, grade, parent’s name and phone number, and your shirt size. The summer schedule will be determined later once we have a clear picture of what we are allowed to do.
Any current 8th grader interested in learning more about High School Football next season email Coach Dan McGill at dmcgill@wlstigers.org with your name and your phone number, parents’ name and number, and your shirt and short sizes. We have created a high school Schoology group that we will use to communicate information for now. We will get you signed onto that after you email. The summer schedule will be determined once we know we are allowed to do.

Friday was a beautiful day for picking up locker contents at WL-S. It was so nice to see so many students, even if it was just a distanced wave and hello from the car. Everything went very smooth and students were able to stay safely in their cars while our teachers, who donned their masks and gloves, delivered their end of the year belongings. We miss each and every one of you! Stay safe, Tigers, and we will see you again really soon!
*Elementary parents, don’t forget that your pick up date is scheduled for today! Stay in your cars and someone will greet you and bring your students items to you. If you need to make other arrangements please call the office.

For those of you who ordered Elementary yearbooks, yearbook production and printing has been unexpectedly delayed due to the current COVID-19 situation. At this time we expect a summer delivery, so we plan to distribute yearbooks in the fall. Thanks for your understanding.
Senior parent, Cheryl Douthwaite, has created an Adopt-A-Senior facebook group supporting our WL-S seniors. If you are on facebook you can check it out and join by searching WL-S Class of 2020. Questions regarding the page can be asked on the page directly.
