Mr. Sean Stormes joined West Liberty-Salem in 2018 as a high school social studies teacher. During his time at WL-S, he fully immersed himself in school life, coaching baseball and golf, leading the Mock Trial team, teaching summer school, and building meaningful relationships with students. Sean has accepted a position as Assistant Principal at Urbana City Schools, and we are excited to see him continue making a positive impact on students and staff in his new role.
Mrs. Dee Harman began her career at West Liberty-Salem in 2015 and has taught both middle school and high school science. Beyond the classroom, she has supported students through Student Council, Yearbook, and most recently as National Honor Society co-advisor. Dee has accepted the position of Dean of Students at Ohio Hi-Point, where her passion for student success and leadership will continue to shine.
Both Mrs. Harman and Mr. Stormes have consistently ranked among students' favorite teachers, a testament to the relationships they built and the care they showed every day.

West Liberty-Salem recent graduate Abbie Thoman attended the Ohio School Safety Summit in Sandusky as a member of the Ohio Student Safety Advisory Council, where she presented her capstone project, Beyond the Screen: The Awareness Advantage, to State and school safety leaders from across Ohio.
The student-led Ohio Student Safety Advisory Council operates under the Ohio Department of Public Safety and the Ohio School Safety Center. Council members work together to identify school safety concerns and develop innovative solutions through student engagement, peer education, and advocacy efforts focused on creating safe, supportive learning environments.
As part of her work on the Council, Abbie developed Beyond the Screen: The Awareness Advantage, a presentation designed to educate students about the realities of online sextortion, the dangers associated with online interactions, and the lasting implications these situations can have on young people and their families. Earlier this spring, Abbie shared the presentation with her fellow West Liberty-Salem students. High School Principal Dr. Greg Johnson also assisted in presenting portions of the program to male students, helping ensure the important message reached all student audiences.
The Ohio School Safety Summit, held at the Kalahari Convention Center, provided Abbie with the opportunity to collaborate with fellow Advisory Council members, participate in roundtable discussions, and share experiences and ideas with student leaders from across Ohio. Throughout her term, Abbie has represented West Liberty-Salem while working to promote awareness, student well-being, and positive school culture.
West Liberty-Salem was also represented at the Summit by Middle School Principal Andy McGill and High School Principal Dr. Greg Johnson, who presented on behalf of the Principals Recovery Network. Their session, Takeaways from Tragedy: Applications for Leadership Before, During, and After School Violence, focused on lessons learned through crisis response and emphasized the importance of building strong relationships both within and outside of a school community. The presentation highlighted how those relationships can strengthen communication, support systems, and recovery efforts before, during, and after difficult situations.
As founding members of the PRN, Dr. Johnson and Mr. McGill are among nation’s leaders who have faced tragedy and crisis in their district. Through their efforts they have established a guide to assist other districts who share similar experiences as a navigation tool for recovery.
On the final day of the Summit Thoman, McGill and Johnson were joined by West Liberty-Salem’s next Student Advisory Council member, Ellery Wygal. West Liberty-Salem is proud of the leadership demonstrated by Abbie, Mr. McGill, and Dr. Johnson as they continue to contribute to important conversations surrounding school safety and student well-being at both the state and local levels.

Designed for teens who already have their driver's license, this hands-on program takes place on TRC's private course and gives new drivers the opportunity to practice skills in a controlled environment while learning from experts.
Participants will learn:

✅ Loss of traction and recovery techniques
✅ How modern vehicle safety features work—and their limitations
✅ The dangers of distracted driving through hands-on exercises
✅ Basic preventative vehicle maintenance
