We are so grateful for our School Resource Officer, Deputy Brad Jarzab, who was recently featured in Peak of Ohio’s “Beyond the Badge” article.

Deputy Jarzab has served as WL-S’s SRO since 2017, and his impact goes far beyond safety. From greeting students in the halls, joining them at lunch, checking doors, and monitoring security, to being a mentor, listener, and trusted role model—he is a constant positive presence for our Tigers.

We’re so proud of WL-S senior Olivia Reichardt for being featured in No 3Putt Golf in the story “From Curiosity to Captain: Olivia Reichardt’s Golf Journey!”

Starting from a casual interest, Olivia’s passion for golf quickly grew into leadership. She’s now our 2025 team captain, a 1st Team OHC golfer, and a former Team MVP. Her journey—highlighted by steady progress, big moments (like placing 3rd at sectionals), and her best scores (a 9-hole 39 and an 18-hole 83)—shows what determination and teamwork can achieve.

🏗️🐯 Tiger Strong Fieldhouse Update! 🐯🏗️

Exciting progress is happening every day!

✔️ The gym roof is now complete.
✔️ The masons are moving right along—the CMU block for the gym will be finished this week.
✔️ The brick wainscot (black brick with black grout) is now up on the north and west sides of the gym.
✔️ And next up… siding will be going on soon!

It’s incredible to watch the Fieldhouse take shape, and we can’t wait to see our Tigers and community enjoying this space in the near future. 🧡 #TigerStrong #WLSTigers #FieldhouseProgress

🌿🔬 Our 6th graders took their science class outdoors last week at the Land Lab!

Students practiced making both qualitative and quantitative observations while putting their ABCDE’s of science sketching into action — Accurate, Big, Colorful, Detailed, and Explained. 📝🎨

From the sights and sounds to the smells of nature, it was a fun day of learning, exploring, and discovering science all around us. 🐾🍃

🧡 Last night during the home varsity football game, we welcomed OHSAA Associate Executive Director Kristin Ronai as she presented West Liberty-Salem with a brand new AED. This life-saving device was made possible through Rep. Tim Barhorst’s initiative to place AEDs in schools across Ohio for the safety of our student-athletes. We are grateful for this important step in protecting our Tiger family, both on and off the field. 🐾🧡🖤 And to top off the night, the Tigers defeated Catholic Central under the Friday night lights! 🏈🔥

Blowing bubbles helps students focus on their breathing, calm their bodies, and re-center their minds… all while having fun with friends. Activities like this are a simple but powerful way we teach our Tigers to recognize their emotions and practice tools that support focus and learning.

🎶🐯 Calling All WL-S Band Alumni! 🐯🎶

We’re excited to welcome our Band Alumni back for a cookout and performance at the September 26 football game!

Here’s how you can be part of the fun:

Pre-Game: March into the stadium with the band, play the Fight Song across the field, join in on an additional stand-still tune, and help us with the Banner and team tunnel.

Halftime: Perform two songs alongside the current high school band.

In the Stands: Stick around for the 4th quarter if you’d like! The music will be simple, but please note that space is limited and you’ll need to share with the HS band members.

👕 We’re continuing with the same Alumni Shirts from last year. If you still have yours, you’re all set! If you need one, shirts will be available for purchase the night of the event or you can send money in ahead of time.

We’re gearing up for our annual fall Community Service Day and are seeking service projects in Champaign and Logan Counties! Each year, about 400 high school students sign up to serve our local community, and we’d love to add even more opportunities this year.
