to West Liberty-Salem’s Middle School Science Olympiad team for great performance at the Piqua Regional tournament on Saturday, March 16th. Eleven team members won awards in nine different events. By finishing fifth in our region, our school has qualified for the State Science Olympiad tournament for the eighteenth year in a row. The State tournament will be held at The Ohio State University campus on Saturday, April 27th. HS Student Council is having a contest between grades to raise money for the Indian Lake Tornado Relief Fund. Every day this week, HS STUDENTS can donate cash or check, and whichever grade donates the most gets a sweet treat after Spring break! The competition starts today and ends on Friday! Students can bring donations to lunch and place them in the jar that corresponds to the appropriate graduation year. Let's Go Tigers! Would you believe us if we told you there are high school kids who were willing to wake up as early as 3:30-4:00 am on Saturdays to take science test and compete with devices they have built for up to 6 hours during that day? Well, they do... AND the hard work paid off for the WLS high school Science Olympiad today. There were only 3 members of our 11 member team pictured because 8 of them left early to participate in the musical later that evening! Congratulations to our HS Science Olympiad team who cam in 4th place overall in their weekend competition. The team is going to state for the second year in a row!!! The following members placed individually: Veronica Wall and Gavyn Greenhill placed 2nd in Air Trajectory. Opening night of Footloose was a great success for our cast, crew, and directors! Tickets are on sale online for tonight's shows at 4 and 8, and tomorrow at 8:00 PM, until noon today. After noon, any remaining tickets will be available at the door for tonight's shows. An update of remaining tickets for the 8 PM show will be shared later today, as it is close to being sold out. Please be mindful of buying tickets from unreliable sources in the comment section. We are monitoring comments, and removing those who are falsely advertising tickets for sale. There are a total of 21 tickets left for tonight's performance that will be sold at the door. Tickets are first come first served. There are a few singles and a few pairs of seats left. During National School Breakfast Week, let's celebrate the positive impact of school breakfast programs on student achievement. Together, we can empower every child to reach their full potential. Let's make breakfast a priority and pave the way for a brighter future. West Liberty-Salem Food Service Department is participating in National School Breakfast week by encouraging students to try school breakfast and providing fun facts about the benefits of choosing healthy breakfast options that keep their tummies full and their brains fueled for learning! Students who try school breakfast have been entered in fun drawings and awarded small prizes. Students have had a lot of fun with this! Pictured is Sophia McClintick who was excited to win a kite she could fly on these beautiful early spring days! If you are interested in your student receiving school breakfast it is $1.85 for students. If your student qualifies for Free or Reduced lunches, breakfast is also Free.

Thirty-eight seniors were honored at the 48th annual Bellefontaine Rotary Club Honors Night on Monday, March 11th, at Bellefontaine High School. Nearly 200 students in and around Logan County who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher during their high school career were honored. Students invited to attend the banquet are also eligible to apply for one of seven $1000 scholarships. Carter Titus was selected from West Liberty-Salem and awarded a $1000 scholarship. Congratulations, Carter and the 38 seniors invited to attend!

Here is a short recap of the big evening that was Literacy Night! Thank you to the more than 1000 students and their families and friends who made the evening such a huge success! From crafts to games to Stem events, and our high school volunteers, we couldn't have done with out all of you. Congratulations to Sophia Hardwick who placed 7th in the State of Ohio in the FFA Extemporaneous Public Speaking Competition this weekend! The competition challenges students to create a 4-6 minute speech on a topic given on the spot and answer a round of questions by a panel of judges after her speech. Great job, Sophia!
