Students are visiting the library and checking out books each week! We have a new selection of books this year, and students are excited to check them out. Many of our older elementary classes have established their goals and researched book genres which helps them know what type of books to search for. Our younger elementary students enjoy story time filled with Mrs. Perdue's animated voiceovers, and of course, lots of giggles!

Pink Out shirts are in! If you ordered a Pink Out T-shirt, you can pick them up on Wednesday, 10/4, outside of the Central Office Doors from 3:00-5:30. The Central Office Doors are located just south of our main entrance near the drop off lane cross walk. See you there!

Seventh grade Math students in Mrs. Mazza's classes are studying order of operations with a pumpkin match game. This activity requires students to use order of operations to solve given expressions. When students solve the expression, they find the matching answer on another piece of pumpkin. This is a great way for students to practice their skills and self-check their progress. Keep up the great work, seventh grade!

We have two more family lunch days this week! Sophomore family lunch is scheduled for Wednesday, October 4th from 12-1, and Freshmen lunch is Thursday, October 5th from 12-1.
We invite families to join their students for lunch, enjoy games, listen to music, and visit with other families and students! Parents should report to the office to sign in and student escorts will take them to lunch. Weather permitting students and their families will have the opportunity to eat outside in the courtyard. Families are permitted to bring food from their favorite restaurant or purchase a lunch from the cafeteria.

Reminder that WL-S will be offering the Pre-ACT to Juniors on October 20th. This assessment is a great opportunity to practice and prepare for the ACT Juniors will be taking later in March. Not only does the Pre-ACT provide great practice, but it will provide predictive scores to help students have an idea of how they are on track to score for the actual ACT. Students interested in taking the Pre-ACT can register in the HS Counseling Office by paying the registration fee of $18, cash or check made payable to WL-S.

8th graders investigated gravitational potential energy by dropping flour pouches from various heights. The lab tests the theory that the higher a pouch is dropped, the bigger a flour puff it will make. Lab days are the best days!

It's week 7 for the Tigers, and they will take on an also undefeated West Jeff tonight at 7. There are a couple of important things to note:

Finally, let's be great fans tonight! Go Tigers!

Our PTO is serving out their mission with much appreciated coffee for our staff and making our resident barista, Mrs. Perdue, very happy! Thank you to our awesome community of parents for appreciating our teachers and staff!

Our food science students did their first cooking lab of the year making pancakes today! One very important lesson for everyone was not to squish the pancake! Reasonably enough, the students thought it reduces cooking time. Now that they know otherwise parents are in for a great breakfast this weekend (for those willing to allow the mess😂). Everyone did a great job!
