Congratulations to West Liberty-Salem’s middle school Science Olympiad team for a great performance at the Centerville Invitational on Saturday where they won a 7th place team trophy. Fourteen WL-S team members won awards in nine different events including a gold medal for Ashlyn Taylor and Levi Kitchen in their event Write It Do It. Also winning awards for our team were: Jill Fullenkamp, Thaddeus Kitchen, Carter Henderson, Ellis Koons, Braylon Lucas, Drew Piacentino, Loretta Moxley, Everette Brooks, Eric Hoover, Wyatt Brooks, Rosie Sokolow, and Lily Yeater. Next up for our team is our very own 14th annual West Liberty-Salem Science Olympiad Invitational Tournament to be held here on Saturday, February 24th. We expect to host nearly 1500 visitors including students, coaches, parents, and community members from 23 different schools. Everyone in the community is invited to come and watch us compete.

Congratulations to the West Liberty-Salem Ag Power Diagnostics Team! They secured a third place finish out of 14 teams at the sub district contest today. The two-person team of Eli Bell and Jadon Lowry will progress to the district contest in February at the John Deer training facility located in Dublin, Ohio. Also of notable accomplishment, Jadon Lowry placed 1st in the state on the online exam earlier this week. Keep up the good work as you both work toward becoming a state qualifier!

The 6th grade rec. boys basketball team spent last evening serving at The Caring Kitchen in Urbana. After a team meal at Mumford's Potato Chips and Deli, they headed to the shelter to help with their community meal and cleaning. The goal of Coach Ben Yeater is to instill the value of service in his young athletes. Go Tigers!

The WLS boys youth teams were recognized during halftime of the varsity boys basketball game this week. Teams in grades 4-6 were in attendance. The girls will be recognized next week during the girls varsity game.
