Congratulations to our lady Tiger golfers who received All-OHC recognition this fall! Olivia Reichardt was name 2nd team All-OHC, while Geneva Estep and Kennedy Wallace both received Honorable Mentions! Great work, ladies!

Physics students in Mrs. Roberts' class completed a lab this morning that reinforced their understanding of vectors. A vector, in physics, is a quantity that has both magnitude and direction. Most common examples of vectors are velocity, acceleration, force, and increasing and decreasing temperatures. Students went on a vector "treasure hunt" in our halls and then hid more vectors for the next classes to discover!

Congratulations to Londyn Loveless on reaching 1000 career assists during last night's game against Greenview. The Tigers won in four sets increasing their record to 7-3 overall.

Mrs. Unger’s classes are learning card games that help to reinforce and practice their multiplication facts. Games with decks of cards or dice are great ways to practice at home and include family members to help review and solidify quick recall of their math facts!

West Liberty-Salem athletic week at a glance! Come out and support your Tigers!

West Liberty-Salem high school girls soccer team took a break from the pitch on Monday to care for their minds and bodies. Head Coach Mandy Lauck used the practice to inspire the team to remember the importance of not only their physical health but also the importance of their mental well-being. They began practice with deep stretching and relaxation exercises followed by surprise guest speaker, Gabby Hollar.
Gabby Hollar, a 2019 graduate of West Liberty-Salem and daughter of elementary principal Aaron Hollar and elementary physical education teacher Kim Hollar, signed with Perth Glory, an A-League Australian Professional Soccer Club in Perth, Australia. A 2017 and 2018 High School All-American Soccer Player, Gabby catapulted into an equally impressive collegiate career with Purdue, West Virginia, and South Alabama. In 2023 Gabby received the esteemed Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year Award, but her career would not stop there. In 2023, Hollar moved to Melbourne to play for Boroondara in the National Premier League, a top tier league supporting professional soccer leagues. The move led to a dream come true for Hollar. In June of this year, Gabby confirmed at first signing with Glory for the 2024/25 A-League Women’s professional season.
Gabby spoke to the team she once called her own about her journey, what it took to be successful, and pursuing their own dreams. The lady Tigers asked great questions and took advantage of their time with Hollar whose dream started on the very field they call home. Gabby will return to Australia on Friday, September 13th to prepare for preseason that begins on September 25th. Her season officially kicks off the first weekend of November.

The JV game scheduled for Saturday, September 14th, is cancelled due to a low number of players on the opposing team. The Tigers will play on the road at Southeastern tonight. Kickoff is at 7:00 PM. Go Tigers!

It's time for Homecoming Spirit Week! Mark your calendars for next week, and dress to impress with a new theme each day! Spirit week is for all students in grades K-12. Go Tigers!

First graders are learning about the ripple effect of kindness this week. They read the book Each Kindness by Jacqueline Woodson. The story is set in an elementary school and unfolds throughout the year. The theme emphasizes the importance of treating others with kindness and how our actions and bullying can affect both the bully and the victim. Today, students shared something they have done out of kindness and dropped a shiny stone in water. The stone creates a ripple in the water showing students how one small act of kindness can also create a ripple effect in our world. We heard comments of how they helped another student pack up their things, helped at home with groceries, or helped a friend at lunch. We are proud of our little Tigers!

West Liberty-Salem FFA hosted the first soil judging contest of the year on Tuesday, September 10th. They hosted neighboring districts Mechanicsburg, Triad and Graham at the Urbana Wildlife Area on Game Farm Road. This first contest is a great experience for new members to understand the process of judging and get hands on field experience. Our students and FFA teacher Mrs. Trista Havens ended the contest with lunch at the Mad River Farm Market! It was a great day!
