Today, a group of our fifth-grade guys found themselves deep in an important lunch-table debate: What is the hottest pepper in the world? 🤔🔥
So naturally… Mr. Hollar called in a real-life expert, our very own School Resource Officer, Deputy J! 👮♂️🌶️
Deputy J jumped right in, sharing some pepper knowledge and adding a little fun to the day. Mr. Hollar, our elementary principal, also joined the conversation because at WL-S, learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door, sometimes it happens right at the lunch table.
Moments like these are a great reminder of what makes West Liberty-Salem special: relationships, curiosity, and laughter!
Thanks, Deputy J, for always being there for our students… and for bringing the heat when needed! 🐯🧡🖤

Our West Liberty-Salem Mock Trial team participated in a virtual scrimmage with Edison High School today, gaining valuable experience in a competitive courtroom setting.
Mock Trial gives students the opportunity to step into the roles of attorneys and witnesses, where they build arguments, analyze evidence, think critically, and bring a case to life through strong public speaking and teamwork. During today’s scrimmage, our students argued their roles in State of Buckeye v. Morgan Remy, showcasing their preparation, confidence, and courtroom skills.
We’re proud of the hard work and dedication they put in—great job, team! 👏🧡🖤

Our Tiger swimmers had an outstanding showing and made school history with a huge day in the pool!

It’s another FULL week of Tiger athletics, and our student-athletes are ready to compete — aside from tonight. Due to winter weather, all contests scheduled for this evening have been canceled. High School athletes will hear from their coaches about practices.
The good news? There are still plenty of opportunities the rest of the week to come out, wear your orange and black, and support our Tigers in action!
📣 Bundle up, pack the stands, and bring the Tiger pride all week long.
🐯🔥 GO TIGERS! 🔥🐯

🖥️🩺 Telehealth is available during school cancellations🖥️🩺
The West Liberty-Salem School-Based Health Center continues to see patients via telehealth whenever school is closed.
When inclement weather happens, you can still schedule by calling Community Health & Wellness Partners at 937-599-1411 and ask to be added to Jenn Douthwaite’s schedule.
Stay warm, and stay well, Tigers! 🧡🖤

Thank you,
Kraig Hissong

🎶✨ Our 6th Grade Band Made Our Day! ✨🎶
Our incredible 6th Grade Band treated us to a surprise showcase today, and WOW, did they shine! 🤩
They’ve been working waaaaaay ahead of schedule for their March performance, so they decided to share a little early holiday magic with all of us. From classics to Christmas tunes, they filled the elementary cafeteria with music that brought smiles to students, teachers, HS students, administrators, pretty much everyone within earshot! 🎺🥁🎼
And let’s talk about the showstopper of the afternoon… Symphony No. 5, Op. 67.
Or was it the title that stole the show? 👀😂
(If you know, you know!)
A huge congratulations to our young musicians and Mr. Waibel for filling our school with joy, talent, and a whole lot of Tiger pride today. Keep playing, keep shining, and keep making WL-S proud! 🐯🧡🖤

West Liberty-Salem is in the process of updating our Top Ten Graduates wall display, which will honor the academic excellence of every graduating class from 1962-2025.
To ensure these plaques are accurate before being produced, we’re inviting the community to help us review the names and spellings for each year’s Top Ten graduates.
This week, we’re sharing the lists for Classes of 2018-2025. If you notice a correction or have documentation that could help verify a name, please contact Allison Wygal in Central Office at awygal@wlstigers.org or call 937-465-1140. Written documentation (such as a yearbook scan or transcript copy) is always appreciated to help confirm updates.
Your input will help us preserve Tiger history with the accuracy and pride it deserves. Thank you for sticking with us and helping us celebrate decades of academic achievement at West Liberty-Salem!
