🧡🖤 Mile Monday in FCS! 🖤🧡

Yesterday, our FCS students took part in Mile Monday, heading out to the track to walk a mile together! 👟

After returning to class, students researched the physical and mental benefits of walking, and they had some great insights to share:

☀️ “I liked getting fresh air, sunshine, and stretching my legs. The sun gives you vitamin D and fresh air helps you relax.”
💪 “It helped me get enough exercise and I think doing this often will improve overall health.”
🌤️ “It gave me a break to think and enjoy the nice weather.”
❤️ “You burn calories, gain endurance, and it’s good cardiovascular exercise.”
😌 “Getting outside refreshed me and woke me up.”
🫀 “Walking improves your cardiovascular system by reducing hypertension and regulating blood sugar.”
📊 “People who walk 15–20 minutes a day, five times a week have 43% fewer sick days.”

In total, our students walked an incredible 104.5 miles on the track! 👏🐾

Great job, Tigers. Keep moving! 🧡

🧡🖤 4th Grade Challenge Day Fun! 🖤🧡

Friday was a BIG review day for our 4th graders, and they took it to the next level with an exciting, hands-on challenge! 💡📚

Students traveled between Mrs. Kale’s and Mrs. Johnson’s classrooms completing ELA tasks, but this was no ordinary review. Along the way, they encountered roadblocks that kept things fun and engaging! 🚧

Some challenges got them moving with physical activities, while others had them stepping outside their comfort zone for:
✏️ A little office time to play rock-paper-scissors with an adult (manners matter!)
💌 Delivering thank you notes to a special box outside Miss Henry’s office
🦶And a round of hopscotch along the way!

This creative approach had students thinking, moving, and collaborating, all while reviewing important skills. Way to go, 4th grade! 👏🐾
