Last day to purchase flowers for your musical cast or crew member is Tuesday, 3/8. Beautiful bouquets are $20 and a portion of each purchase will go back to our musical department for future shows! Orders can be placed by turning in the following form to the office or send with a cast/crew member. Orders will be available the night of the show.
Candy grahams are on sale for $3 all week during high school lunch! Students can purchase candy for their friends that will be delivered to cast and crew during the musical!

Hello families, this is Kraig Hissong, Superintendent, with an important reminder that tomorrow, Monday, March 7th, is a remote learning day for students. Students do not report to school tomorrow, but they have all received assignments from their teachers for tomorrow to complete at home. Teachers have assigned work that students should be able to complete successfully tomorrow independently or with help from a parent depending on the age of the child. Elementary students should have received work from their teachers on Friday or can check seesaw for more information from their teachers. MS and HS students should also have received assignments from their teachers or can check schoology. You may email your child's teacher or call the school if you have questions. Just an important reminder on a few items as we wrap up this school week.
1. The Middle School and High School Band Concerts are this evening. The times have changed. Middle School will start at 7 PM and the HIgh School will start at approximately 7:30 PM.
2. Tomorrow, Friday March 4th, Students will have a 2 Hour Delay Start to allow for teacher/grade level meetings. School will start at 9:40 for the MS and HS; and 9:45 for the Elementary.
3. Monday, March 7th, there is no school for students to allow for a rescheduled Professional Development day for staff. This day was canceled due to weather conditions in early February

Second graders in Mrs. Dallas and Mrs. Cordell’s classes learned about different types of force from our high school Edison State Physics students today. Owen Johnson, senior, demonstrated how to create a paper boat that floats on water. Students blew through straws to create a push force that made the boats move. They also used bouncey balls to demonstrate the use of pushing and pulling. Our students did a great job listening and following directions and were able to tell what types of force were used in the experiment. Hands on learning is the best!
Join the West Liberty-Salem Athletic Association for their monthly meeting tonight, 3/2, at 6 PM in the elementary cafeteria.

This month the High School Counseling Office will feature a ‘WORKFORCE Business of the Day’ for students who desire to go straight into the workforce upon graduation.
We will feature local job and career opportunities where on-the-job training is the norm. These jobs may or may not require short-term training, such as apprenticeships and/or certifications.
The jobs highlighted provide a good level of income for those who are ready to enter the workforce immediately upon graduation.
Today’s WORKFORCE Business of the Day is: RELIANT MECHANICAL
Reliant Mechanical, located in East Liberty, Ohio, is a full-service mechanical business involving HVAC, plumbing and piping construction, maintenance and repair.
Job/Career Titles: HVAC installers/technicians, plumbers, pipe-fitters, and pipe welders
Training: RELIANT hires entry level employees and teaches them the trade through on the job training (apprenticeships). They are a merit based company meaning, you can advance in position and income level as quickly as you can learn and perfect the trade.
All full-time employees are considered “permanent.” Advancement pace is determined by how quickly someone learns the trade. Full time and summer employment opportunities are available.

Tuesday’s literacy week theme is Reading Colors Your World! We are bright and colorful clothing! On Wednesday there will be a book exchange with gently used books. Bring a book you have already read and exchange it for a book that you are interested in. Please bring a book appropriate for your age! Reading is sweet!
First graders will enjoy mystery readers all week during Literacy Week celebrations! Mr. Hollar was their special visitor today and read Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss. Our students can’t wait to see who will stop by tomorrow!

COVID cases across the state are decreasing and many areas of the state are no longer seeing high spread of the virus. In response to this, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) is no longer requiring a mask mandate for busses and vans operated by a public school district as of February 25, 2022. The Champaign County Health Department has confirmed this change and we have received word that we no longer have to wear masks. This change will begin today, February 28th. Effective February 25, 2022, CDC is exercising its enforcement discretion to not require that people wear masks on buses or vans operated by public or private school systems, including early care and education/child care programs. CDC is making this change to align with updated guidance that no longer recommends universal indoor mask wearing in K-12 and early education settings in areas with a low or medium COVID-19 Community Level.

The West Liberty-Salem 6th grade girls basketball team earned runner up at this weekend’s Triad Classic. The team went 3-1 in the gold bracket agains Northwestern, Triad, Urbana and North Union respectively. The team is coached by Darrin Leichty and Adam Cole.
