Here is a recap of all weather-related, extra curricular changes.

The JH and HS OHC Wrestling tournament at Madison Plains tomorrow will begin later than originally planned. Weigh ins begin at 10:00 and wrestling begins at 12:00 PM.

The JV/Varsity boys' basketball game scheduled for tonight, January 19th, has been rescheduled to tomorrow, January 20th. JV begins at 6:00. Little Tiger Cheer will perform during halftime of the Varsity game. Varsity will begin at approximately 7:30 PM. Little Tigers will be called out to the small gym between first and second quarter to prepare for their halftime show. Again, tonight's game is rescheduled to tomorrow. Go Tigers!

Due to today's school closing because of inclement weather, all middle school and youth practices are cancelled for today. High school activities and Little Tiger Cheer will be announced after noon today.

The Middle School Spelling took place on Thursday, January 19th, with 23 of the middle school's top spelling competitors. Ashlyn Taylor, 8th grade, won in the 10th round by correctly spelling “thorax” and then “reference.” Runners up were also 8th graders, Danny Erne and Alauna (Jordan) Kinchen. The Champion will go on to spell in an online spelling bee in the spring for a chance to spell in the state Spelling bee later this year. Congratulations to Ashlyn, Danny and Alauna!

Jessica Anders visited fifth graders in Mrs. Creager's class and shared her service dog, Natalie, with them. She taught students the difference between service dogs and therapy dogs, and each student had the opportunity to practice the commands that Natalie knows. Students were excited to learn all the ways that Natalie helps people and how service dogs serve many different types of owners. Thank you Jessica and Natalie!

Middle school counselor Kim Leichty is visiting middle school classes to discuss good communication skills this week. Her message talks about how our body language often can portray something different than how we are feeling or verbally communicating. She talked about shaking hands when we meet someone new, making eye contact when someone is speaking to us, and how our body language communicates how we are feeling in a group setting. At the end of the lesson, students were asked to share what they learned. One student shared that she noticed that her teachers might think she is bored in class, when is reality, she is learning and taking in information, but realized her body language reflects something different. Many great lessons were learned!

Good morning! High school sports cancellations will be determined later in the morning/early afternoon. If it is determined that the Tigers will not play tonight's home basketball game, a text will go out to Little Tiger Cheer families with a new date our Little Tigers will cheer. Thank you!

High school students ended their first semester with community service. Following their final exams they engaged in service projects on and off school campus. Several students served the community at The Caring Kitchen, Adriel, and Green Hills, while others stayed on campus to clean up and decorate the halls, bake cookies, and clean out storage closets and the shop room. Our students look forward to our quarterly service days, and we can't wait for the next opportunity!

We are working to resolve an issue with our All Call/phone system and apologize for repeated communication. We hope to remedy this issue quickly and be back to normal communication by morning.
