Hello WL-S Families, Cold and flu season are upon us! We want to remind parents that if your child has a fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, vomiting/nausea or other symptoms and does not feel well, we encourage you to keep your child home. If your child has a fever, they should not return to the school until 24 hours after the fever breaks. Our CHWP School-Based Health Clinic is also available to families if you wish for your child to be seen by Jen Douthwaite, our Nurse Practitioner. Thank you, Kraig Hissong

West Liberty-Salem and Triad High Schools presented a $2000 check to the Blessing Bags board during half time of last night’s game. Over the last two weeks, high school students and staff have joined Burg and Triad to contribute more than $4000 to the program. It was nice to join our neighboring county schools and positively impact a program that serves so many of our students experiencing hunger. We will continue to accept donations indefinitely so that Blessing Bags can continue serving our schools!

Students in Mrs. Mazza’s 7th grade Enrichment/Intervention classes are traveling around the world! Last month, they began organizing “suitcases” they will fill with discoveries they make while studying cultures around the world. The suitcases contain their passport where they will record the countries they visit, plane or train tickets for travel within the country, and souvenirs they select that represent important details about the country’s culture. Mrs. Mazza shared, “ The point is to get them to learn a little something about other countries and to also have a traveling mindset in terms of preparing a passport, purchasing travel tickets (plane, train, boat) and looking for attractions while in these countries. I can’t wait to compare these with what the students will have finished at the end of the year!” We can’t wait to see “All of the places they will go!”
