🎉 Congratulations to Abbie Thoman 🎉 We are proud to announce that Abbie Thoman has been selected as one of only 16 students statewide to serve on the 2025–2026 Ohio Student Safety Advisory Council, an honor given by the Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC) to student leaders who are passionate about creating safer, more supportive school environments. 🌟 A Legacy of Leadership at WL‑S Abbie follows in the footsteps of Ava Johnson, a fellow Tiger who represented West Liberty‑Salem on the Safety Advisory Council from 2023–2025. Ava served with excellence and helped shape student-driven safety initiatives during her two-year term. Her work left a meaningful impact on our school and community, and we’re excited to see Abbie carry that torch forward. About the Council Created by Governor Mike DeWine in 2022, the Ohio Student Safety Advisory Council empowers high school students to: Identify safety concerns in schools Develop peer engagement strategies Organize events and training Present capstone projects at the Ohio School Safety Summit, held this year on June 9–10 in Columbus Students also serve as advisors to the Ohio School Safety Working Group, ensuring student voices are represented at every level. Meet Abbie Thoman: Abbie is a dedicated student and active member of the WL-S community, known for her academic excellence and leadership. Her selection to this important council reflects her commitment to promoting student well-being, emotional safety, and a strong, connected school culture. What’s Ahead: Abbie will spend the next school year working closely with OSSC staff and other student leaders across the state. Together, they’ll launch student-led initiatives, create marketing campaigns, and present innovative solutions to enhance school safety throughout Ohio. 🧡 West Liberty‑Salem is proud to be represented by strong, thoughtful leaders like Abbie. Please join us in celebrating her achievement and thanking her for making a difference—here at home and across the state.
