Our United Way of Logan County youth representatives have been hard at work tackling some of the most pressing issues that affect the families in Logan County. WL-S representatives are Juniors, Michah Stoner and Avery Davis, and Seniors, Kaylee LeVan and Lance Baldwin. The full article featured on Peak of Ohio is attached. “After two months spent learning about and discussing the biggest issues that affect local youth, Logan County high schoolers serving on the Student United Way committee are seeking funding proposals to address them. The group has $20,000 from the annual United Way campaign to spend and is inviting all local organizations and schools to submit a Youth Allocations Grant application to help fund one or more projects.” https://www.peakofohio.com/news/details.cfm?clientid=5&id=322467

Our High School Key Club took full advantage of yesterday’s weather and held their spring meeting outside. Several important topics were up for discussion including planning their last few Fun Friday events! If you have missed it, Key Club has been hosting fun activities during 1st and 2nd homeroom periods in the gym. They usually involve some type of relay event or competition against teacher/administrator teams. It’s become a really popular event and a way for the students to let loose and have fun during this unusual year. Key Club officers and Delegates also used the meeting to highlight the benefits of serving in key club, encouraging new members to consider signing up for a position next year. They wrapped things up by brainstorming for their final service project of the year (TBA) and other ways to support our student body. Since the pandemic began, they lost the tradition of having a student section during fall/winter sports. But, they hope to bring that back to our outside events this spring! Provided that they can find a safe way to do so, they would call this ‘Students Supporting Students’ and round out the school year supporting their friends and athletes! Overall, it was a productive meeting on a beautiful day!

In some of Mrs. Peterson’s fifth grade math classes, students were challenged with a BreakOut Education activity the week before break. In small groups, students had to solve 5 different puzzles involving decimal operations and follow their clues to open locks that would allow them to “Break Out” of the box. Students are given 60 minutes to come up with a game plan, solve all the puzzles and use the clues to unlock the boxes. This time, only two groups were able to finish the task in the time given, while several other groups were very close to breaking out. Great teamwork and game plans are often required to win at this challenge. Great job, fifth grade!

Good morning!! There is a fake Livestream link for tonight’s baseball game, tagging several WLS affiliates, floating around Facebook. There have a few scams associated with these fake livestream companies. Anytime we have access to a live stream event, it will be posted on our page or the WLSAA page only. At this time, there is no livestream option for tonight’s game. Thank you, and Go Tigers!

The freshmen class hosted a staff car wash for their annual class fundraiser on Friday afternoon. Deputy J. helped out by driving the cars to their wash area, while class officers washed, dried and cleaned tires! Deputy J. safely returned the cars to staff spots. With a cold start to the morning, we were a little nervous we may have to reschedule, but the afternoon sun saved the day! The freshmen would like to thank everyone who trusted them to get their cars sparkling clean!
