
Next year's Key Club President Luke McGill and member Taran Logwood presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Transporation Director Tyler Cordell along with notes of appreciation for all drivers on behalf of Key Club. The West Liberty-Salem girls track and field team won its 12th consecutive Ohio Heritage Conference title Thursday at WLS Tiger Stadium.
Team Scores: 1st WLS 182, 2nd Fairbanks 145.5, 3rd Triad 91, 4th Mechanicsburg 65.5, 5th Northeastern 22, 6th West Jefferson 11
Delaney Jones led the way for the Lady Tigers winning the 100 Meter Dash in a new OHC record time of 12.23, the 200 Meter Dash (26.60) and the long jump (17'5).
Jones was also a part of the winning 4x100 Meter Relay with teammates Tori Douthwaite Gwen McCullough and Chloe Griffith (51.41). Also placing first for WLS were Sophia Hardwick in the 300 Meter Hurdles (48.38) and Malia Miller in the 3200 Meter Run (11:51.53).
Second place finishers for WLS included Claire Longshore in the 100 Meter Hurdles (16.45), Mallory Bostick in the 400 Meter Dash (1:01.95), the 4x200 Relay team of Tori Douthwaite, Hattie Jacobs, Claire Longshore and Gwen McCullough (1:51.92) and the 4x400 Meter Relay team of Ashley Yoder, Gwen McCullough, Claire Longshore and Mallory Bostick (4:20.25).
Placing third for the Lady Tigers were Sophia Hardwick in the 100 Meter Hurdles (16.59), Claire Longshore in the 300 Meter Hurdles (49.92), Gwen McCullough in the 800 Meter Run (2:32.66), Tori Douthwaite in the 200 Meter Dash (28.71) and Ashley Yoder in the 3200 Meter Run (12:14.72).
Fourth place finishers included Chloe Griffith in the 100 Meter Dash (12.95), Malia Miller in the 1600 Meter Run (5:27.19), Addie McAuley in the 800 Meter Run (2:39.09), and Lyndee Harrison in the Shot Put (29'3).
Addie McAuley 1600 Meter Run (5:41.80) and Ashley Yoder in the 400 Meter Dash (1:03.78) placed fifth to round out the WLS scorers.
"With the wind and rain, we knew times and performances would be off, so we really focused on competing and trying to place higher than our seed. Our girls were really scrappy tonight and fought for every point and I'm proud of the energy and determination they showed," said WLS Head Coach, Ann Vogel. Winning a conference title is always important to our program and the boys winning it as well, was icing on the cake."
WLS will compete in the DIII Southwest District at Graham with prelims on Tuesday and finals on Saturday.

Senior soccer players Rosey Dunham, Kerrigan Burgel, and Megan Hollar celebrated with family, friends, teammates, and coaches after signing their commitment letters to play soccer at the collegiate level. Rosey Dunham will continue her education and play soccer at Grace College. Kerrigan Burgel will play at Mount Vernon Nazarene, and Megan Hollar at The University of Findlay! Congratulations! We look forward to cheering on these Tiger athletes for years to come!

Our 3rd graders went on a field trip to the Logan County History Center! The Museum features The Orr Mansion, The Logan County Museum, and The Transportation Museum, each featuring their own unique exhibits rich in the history of Logan County!

Seniors and their families are invited to join us in celebrating the Class of 2024 during our Senior Recognition Night on Monday, May 13th, at 6:30 PM. The evening will include senior awards and scholarships, as well as viewing the Senior Video in the main gymnasium. Cupcakes are provided. We hope to see you there!

It's Teacher Appreciation Week and we are celebrating! Teacher Appreciation Week honors our Nation's educators during the first full week of May and encompasses National Teacher Day which is today! Our teachers were treated to Stoner's Ice Cream, and student employees of the Ice Cream Parlor served the sweet treats from their trailer right on campus! We have many other activities planned throughout the week to thank our educators who teach, love, and care for our students each day!

The Lady Tigers had three event winners on day one including the 4x800 Meter Relay team of Malia Miller, Addie McAuley, Ashley Yoder and Mallory Bostick (10:02.41), Sophia Hardwick in Discus (109'10) and Elise Longshore in Pole Vault (10'3).
Also scoring for WLS were Tori Douthwaite 2nd place in Pole Vault (9'0) and Lyndee Harrison in Discus (87'10) for 5th place.
