What is your taste in books? 4th graders are learning about genres and exploring their interests in the ELA "book tasting" Cafe! Mystery, realistic fiction, biography, fantasy, poetry, informational, and historical fiction books were the genres “tasted”. Students recorded their favorite genres after selecting books, reading their book jackets, and can now select those genres read throughout the year! Pictured are Mrs. Kale and Mrs. Johnson's Fourth Grade ELA classes in the "cafe".

You may see some new faces in our Community Health and Wellness Partners School-Based Health Center this year! Mrs. Jennifer Douthwaite, a Certified Nurse Practitioner, is still our main healthcare provider. Mrs. Douthwaite is able to provide primary care services for things like ear infections, strep throat, and other common illnesses. She can also provide additional services like nutrition, pharmacy, and social services to name a few.
Kelli Northup, LPN, will assume the role of the school nurse providing traditional school nursing services and assisting Nurse Douthwaite.
Community Health & Wellness Partners also provides opportunities to nursing students and partners with The Ohio State University to provide students with internships. Alyssa joins CHWP from OSU and will be with us for the remainder of first semester.
Welcome to the team, Kelli and Alyssa!
If you would like to arrange for your child to be seen in our school-based health center, please call 937-599-1411 to schedule an appointment.

Congratulations to Homecoming Queen Isabella Hardwick and King Teagon Miller!

Over the last three days, our sixth graders have been discussing ideas in science that would help them build a container to house an egg for an egg drop! They first reviewed the ideas of force, gravity, inertia, and stress. Next, they came up with their own design for a container that would keep their egg from cracking. They were able to use one cup, one egg, one foot of tape, five cotton balls, four rubber bands, six toothpicks, and one sheet of paper. They built and tested their container for durability. Students were allowed to rework and rebuild as many times as they wanted after testing. We ended with a final build and went to the track for a series of egg drops. We did 4 drops from differing heights. The lowest was one meter high and our highest drop was from the top of the stadium bleachers onto the concrete! This is a project Mrs. Symmat’s young scientist do each year to kick off the unit "Skills of science," which touches on careers in science. The science careers they highlighted were Marine Biology, Inventors, and Engineering. The kids did a fantastic job becoming egg container engineers!

Congratulations to our lady Tiger golfers who received All-OHC recognition this fall! Olivia Reichardt was name 2nd team All-OHC, while Geneva Estep and Kennedy Wallace both received Honorable Mentions! Great work, ladies!

Physics students in Mrs. Roberts' class completed a lab this morning that reinforced their understanding of vectors. A vector, in physics, is a quantity that has both magnitude and direction. Most common examples of vectors are velocity, acceleration, force, and increasing and decreasing temperatures. Students went on a vector "treasure hunt" in our halls and then hid more vectors for the next classes to discover!

Congratulations to Londyn Loveless on reaching 1000 career assists during last night's game against Greenview. The Tigers won in four sets increasing their record to 7-3 overall.
