Our Little Tigers had a great time learning cheers, playing games, and learning a dance they will perform at halftime of our varsity boys basketball game tomorrow night! Melvin, Mrs. Perdue's therapy dog, was soaking up all the attention from students who were eager to read to him! He enjoyed hearing about Biscuit the dog, and enjoyed every minute with his student readers!




West Liberty-Salem announces Kindergarten Screening for the 2025-2026 school year!
All students must be age 5 before August 1, 2025 to be eligible to attend kindergarten.
Kindergarten Screening will be held on Friday, May 9 and Monday, May 12 at West Liberty-Salem Elementary.

Huge congratulations to Caizen Anders, 6th grade, for winning the Middle School Spelling Bee after an intense 30 rounds! He claimed victory with the word "tersely," but not without a tough challenge from Drew Piacentino, 8th grade, who went head-to-head with Caizen for the final 19 rounds!

West Liberty-Salem High School choir members recently showcased their musical talents at the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) Solo and Ensemble Contest. Students performed both as soloists and as a group, demonstrating their dedication and skill. This event offered a valuable opportunity for participants to challenge themselves, receive constructive feedback from experienced adjudicators, and continue to nurture their passion for music. Congratulations to all the choir members who took part in this memorable and rewarding experience!

Meanwhile, at the concession stand, cheerleaders worked both morning and afternoon shifts (for varsity choir), and Anna Cole, one of our cheerleaders, even announced the game! These athletes are keeping busy today!

Our high school girls basketball team, coaches and families had an awesome time cheering on alumni Lilly Weaver at Clark State Community College this week! Lilly, a freshman and starting point guard for the Hocking College Hawks, played an amazing game against the Eagles. It’s so great to see our alumni continuing to shine on the court! Huge shoutout to our FFA Ag Biotechnology team for an incredible performance at the STATE FINALS today! They placed 19th in the state on their exams to earn their spot at State Finals and gave it their all in the competition! West Liberty-Salem had the honor of hosting the 3rd Annual Champaign County Wheelchair Basketball Game, an event that brought WLS and Urbana's communities together! Two of our own high school students showcased their skills on the court, while the girls and boys basketball teams assisted with fun halftime games. The energy was high as Champaign County cheerleaders cheered alongside our high school cheer teams, making it a truly unforgettable experience for everyone involved. The West Liberty-Salem High School Cheer Team is excited to host the Little Tiger Cheer Camp for students in grades K-5! This is a fantastic opportunity for your child to learn cheer motions, jumps, chants, and a fun dance while having a blast!
Camp Dates & Details:
• Wednesday, January 29th: 3:00-4:30 PM
• Thursday, January 30th: 3:00-4:30 PM
• Performance: Friday, January 31st, at halftime of the Varsity boys’ basketball game!
(Students will showcase their cheer skills, and parents will sign out their Little Tiger after the performance.)
Important Information:
• Pick-Up: Students should be picked up in the elementary gym at the end of each camp day. A parent or guardian must sign them out with their group leader.
• Fee: $25 (includes a T-shirt to wear during the performance).
• Registration Deadline: Wednesday, January 22nd.
• Payment: Please return the completed registration form and $25 fee by January 22nd. Make checks payable to WL-S Cheer.
