West Liberty-Salem National Honor Society partnered with Community Blood Center for the annual blood drive this morning. Students and teachers registered for the event, and even with the two hour delay they made sure to rearrange schedules to give back! National Honor Society provides treats and water for donors and keep things organized. Community Blood Center presented Superintendent Kraig Hissong and WL-S with the Red Cord Award for the number of students who are repeat donors. According to the CBC website students who register to donate blood three or more times during their high school career earn a Red Cord to wear during graduation events. The program recognizes students for their commitment to providing life-saving donations to the community blood supply. Pictured are father/daughter donor duo, Superintendent Kraig and Cathryn Hissong. Thank you students and staff who commit to bolstering the community blood supply every year!

Hello, The West Liberty-Salem School Board and Community Health and Wellness Partners are discussing the possibility of a School Based Health Center to provide health and dental (by referral) services for students at WL-S. Today, families, high school students, and WL-S Staff will receive a brief survey via e-mail to assess what specific health center services would benefit our students. The survey is completely confidential. If you do not receive the email, there will be an option to take the survey in the live feed section of the website. Thank you for your help as we continue to find ways to improve services for our students and families.

Elementary students are celebrating the 100th day of school in style today! First graders walked in their annual fashion show. Students choose 100 items and glue, stick or pin them to their shirt. They model in front of their peers, teachers and administration, and we had some real show stoppers this morning! Ellie wore 100 sprinkles because she loves sprinkle donuts. Iris wore 100 bows and books for her two favorite things! Sam wore 100 balls, but the important part was that his shirt read, “his teacher survived 100 days!” And finally Henry worse 100 red, white and blue stars because they farm in America with a Case combine!
