Mr. Henry just hosted a sing-a-long with his Middle School and High School choir students. It was completely optional, but what a good turnout! Mr. Henry played Disney songs (and shared his screen with them so they could see the lyrics) for them to sing along to. It was a lot of fun! They got to chat some before and after we sang some songs together. This type of interaction is so important for our students, who are missing their teachers so much! Thanks, Mr. Henry for finding a creative way to host an awesome choir experience!

Hey everyone! It's Mrs. Cotrell here, and I really miss seeing all your smiling faces each day! My family and I are keeping busy doing chores around the house, learning remotely, and playing lots of board games. But one of our FAVORITE things to do is bake! We've spent lots of time baking homemade treats, and then playing outside after enjoying them. Hope you are all doing well!

Good morning, Elementary families! The Girl Scouts are working as an entire organization to come up with new ways to support their communities during this difficult time. The following program opportunities are available on Facebook live to the general public, for free, to anyone interested (not just registered Girl Scouts) at www.facebook.com/GSWOH. Attached you will find a breakdown of times and grade levels for each live session.
Here is a fun of example of one of the virtual opportunities their program team has put together:
https://www.facebook.com/GSWOH/videos/830484824138777/
In this video program team leader Marissa walks girls through the Junior Animal Habitats Badge. This video walks the viewer through the badge requirements for a Junior badge, but kids of all ages can enjoy viewing and learning about animal life. These videos are recorded so caregivers can watch them with their children at any time, but if you tune in during the live event you can ask questions and interact with our program team.
We hope you enjoy!

Good afternoon students, staff and families!
As we settle in to another ‘school away from school’ week, the HS and MS Student Councils have decided that it’s time to have some fun! They are sponsoring a school-wide virtual SPIRIT WEEK next week, April 6th-10th.
Everyone in grades K-12 is encouraged to participate! Invite your family members and even get your pets involved!
Just take a picture of yourself showing your spirit and tag or post them on the West Liberty-Salem Facebook page. Don’t have facebook? No Problem! Just email your photos to Awygal@wlstigers.org, and we will share them on the school live-feed!

School is one of the primary sources of community for students, and many of ours are missing their friends so much. Making connections on Zoom, and through phone calls with teachers has been great for both staff and students this week! Remind your students to make real connections with their friends. This is a time of change, so encourage them to pick up the phone and call friends instead of texting, snapping, etc. Remember to monitor social media to make sure you understand and can talk about the kind of messages your children are receiving either about the virus or just in general. Encourage family communication, excercise, and how to self care. Our seniors are grieving the loss of so much at this time. Keep them in your thoughts as they learn to navigate the close of their final year of school in very uncertain times. Attached, you will find a beautiful tribute to our senior class created and submitted by Bexley Harrigan. Enjoy and share with your seniors!

It looks like our students are back in the swing of things this week, as best we can! Mrs. Reed asked her first graders to send her their favorite spots to read. Here are a few!

Many of our teachers and staff are reaching out to say, “Hi!” from their work stations! Share with your students so they can see how we are all adapting to this new normal! They miss you all SO MUCH!! Show us your work stations in the comments!

Hello Families,
Today we received news that schools will remain closed through May 1st. This provides conformation that we will be instructing children at home using distance learning for most of the remainder of the school year. With this understanding, it is important that we are able to assist families as much as possible to help you support the instruction of your children as we do our best to deliver an online and at-home instruction model. It is our goal to deliver this instruction in a very manageable way. We understand that in many cases it is our parents that will be on the front line helping to organize and support students during this time. We want to make this time be successful for everyone and will do our best to make assignments reasonable. No one signed up for schooling at home, but we are committed to making the best of this for our students and families. Communication will be very important. Please make sure, if you have not done so, to review information your child’s teacher has provided on how and when to communicate. In most cases either Seesaw or Schoology will be the educational platform used to provide assignments and to return work electronically. Please make sure that your child understands how to access their account and as a parent you are monitoring these platforms and your child’s work. If you have any questions about the learning platforms or need assistance with technology at your home, please contact the school. The school will have office hours each day from 8 AM to 3 PM and we will be available by phone or email. We are discouraging all families from reporting to the school unless directed by your teacher or by appointment. All school facilities and grounds will remain closed until May 1st or until we hear otherwise. I want to thank all our parents and students for your flexibility and understanding during this period of social distancing. Please be sure to continue to communicate to your child’s teachers on a regular basis and work to establish routines that will help your child complete assignments and be successful for the remainder of the school year. More information will continue to be provided by the school district and your child’s teachers as we continue to learn how best to move forward.
Thank you,
Kraig Hissong
Don’t forget to put your teddy bears in your window and join our neighbors across Ohio give children something to search for on a drive with their families! Communities in Champaign and Logan Counties are taking part, so get out those bears, show a little love and kindness, and take a drive and see what you can find! #practicesocialdistancing #flattenthecurve

The Logan County Library is offering online library card registration to receive a temporary library card for use for 60 days, to help those who do not have a physical library card, to be able to access materials and resources that would normally require a physical library card. I have included the link below. This card can be used for our Libby app (library app for borrowing digital books) nm, as well, to be able to borrow ebooks. Hope you find this useful! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the library and they will be happy to assist you. Have a super day!
