Our 8th and 9th grade Biology students are proud to announce the birth of 43 Wolf Spider babies! Mom is doing well considering she has carried an egg sack on her back since November! Dad is proud but remains huddled in a corner since Mom is a bit territorial over her new responsibilities. I mean, let’s face it, 43 babies might make any new mom a bit testy! Wolf spiders are important to the environment because they take care of pesky ground pest insects in our homes and yards (even though they may look really scary)! Students have been feeding the family a steady diet of crickets before, during and since the birth. Congratulations to our new Tiger family!

The boy’s varsity basketball team will take on the Trojans at Southeastern tonight at 5:30! Join us via the Trojan’s live-stream link below! Go Tigers!

Tonight’s girls varsity basketball game against Versailles has been cancelled.

Hello WL-S families and Happy New Year!  Tomorrow is our first day of school in 2021.  I hope everyone has had a wonderful break with your families.  COVID has continued to impact our community and Ohio however, I am hopeful that we will start to see a turn for the better with vaccines soon to be available to the general public.  We will be returning to 5 day per week instruction for all students beginning tomorrow.  That means that your children's schedules, bus stop times, etc. will all return to normal as it was prior to starting hybrid instruction.  Also, all Free and Reduced Breakfast and Lunches will continue for all students for the remainder of this school year.  This was extended by the federal government for all schools.  We will also be allowing additional people to attend athletic events.  OHSAA will return to the 15% rule for attendance capacity.  More information will be provided on this.  Our hope is that more students, families, and friends will be able to attend events.  Last, I want to remind all families, to continue to monitor your health each day.  If you are not feeling well, please use cautiion when deciding to come to school.  We want to continue to ensure that the school is a safe and healthy place for everyone and we can only do that if we work together.  We are excited to see you all in 2021!
Congratulations to WLS senior, Alexa Stoll, who signed with the Edison State softball team for the 21-22 season! We look forward to watching you further academic and athletic career!

Tonight’s JV/varsity Boy’s Basketball game has been cancelled by the opposing team. Have a great evening!
Some high school choir members paid a special visit to Mr. Henry to do some caroling while he recovers from a recent surgery! He sure is missed!

Our community is making an impact on local families this Christmas! Read the full story here https://www.wlstigers.org/article/370426?org=wls

“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!” Check out our elementary carolers!

Students from Mrs. Smith’s MCCESC class made and sold ornaments for $1 piece to help support a child in need this Christmas! Middle School Student Council selected this as their December service project and the students were excited to be a part of the gift of giving! Thanks to Mrs. Smith and her whole class, someone will have a very Merry Christmas!

The West Liberty-Salem FFA donated 8 bushels of Florida navel oranges to the Food Service Department this week. Several of the Food Service workers alongside the Transportation crew were busy all morning on Friday, December 18th bagging up over 2100 breakfasts/lunches to be delivered to our students' homes. The WL-S FFA wants to give them a huge shout out for all of their efforts to continue feeding our students during Hybrid Learning time! It takes a special crew to have such drive and initiative!
