First grade classes hatched baby chicks last week! The students were learned about the eggs and hatching process and waited patiently for the baby chicks for 21 days! Our students and teachers are so excited!

West Liberty-Salem middle school track and field competed Friday night at the Mechanicsburg Mid-Season Invitational. The boys finished 12th out of 17 teams with 17.5 points. Winning the meet with 136.5 points was Marysville Bunsold followed by Mechanicsburg with 73.5 points. West Liberty-Salem JV baseball defeated rival Mechanicsburg 10-3 on Friday evening to improve to 6-1 (4-0 in the OHC). Peyton Hull and Nathan Webb combined to pitch 7 innings allowing just 4 hits, one earned run and striking out 7. Owen Deere led the offense going 3-3 with 1 RBI and three stolen bases. Jacob Griffith was 2-4 with 2 RBI and three stolen bases. West Liberty-Salem JV baseball improved to 7-1 (5-0 in the OHC) with an 8-inning, 7-5 win at Greeneview on Saturday. Jacob Griffith singled in Aaron Campbell in the top of the 8th for the go-ahead and eventual game winning run. Dylan Wing, Jacob Evans and Brodey Deam pitched 8 innings combining for 15 strikeouts and allowing just 3 hits and 2 earned runs. Owen Deere led the offensive attack going 3-4 with 1 RBI. Griffith and Deam each had 2 RBI. The JV Tigers are back in action on Monday at home against Northeastern.

West Liberty-Salem JV baseball improved to 5-1 (3-0 in the OHC) with a 5-3 win over visiting Bellbrook on Tuesday evening. Dylan Wing and Brodey Deam combined to pitch 7 innings, allowing just 2 earned runs and striking out 11. Jacob Evans had a single and 3 RBI. Peyton Hull and Wing each went 1-2 with a walk and 2 stolen bases. WL-S JV is back in action on Friday when they host Mechanicsburg.

The West Liberty-Salem Girls Track and Field team placed 5th out of 18 teams at the Minster Memorial Invitational Saturday Senior Megan Adams led the Lady Tigers winning the 1600 meter run (5:15.05) and 3200 meter run (11:48.93). Adams was also part of the third place 4x800 relay team with Teagan Boyd, Mallory Bostick and Ashley Yoder (10:15.11). Sophia Hardwick chipped in a second place finish in the 300 meter hurdles (50.67) and eighth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles (17.68) and Delaney Jones placed third in the 100 meter dash (12.66). Also placing for WLS were Alaina Irving 6th place in the 100 meter hurdles (17.58), Taylor Kennedy 7th place 3200 meter run (12:51.14), 4x200 relay of Mallory Bostick, Mandilyn Weaver, Claire Longshore and Sophia Hardwick 7th place (1:56.03), Claire Longshore 8th place 300 meter hurdles (52.27), Ashley Yoder 8th place 1600 meter run (5:45.48), Mandilyn Weaver 8th place high jump (4'08"), 4x100 relay of Alaina Irving, Mandilyn Weaver, Lilly Weaver and Delaney Jones 8th place (54.09), and the 4x400 relay of Mallory Bostick, Claire Longshore, Teagan Boyd and Sophia Hardwick (4:32.39). Brodey Deam, Cody Crawford and Peyton Hull combined to pitch 4 shutout innings, allowing just 1 hit and 2 walks, while striking out 10. Offensively, Jayden Temple had 3 hits (2 doubles) and 2 RBI. Hull had 3 hits and 3 RBI. Crawford had 2 hits (1 double) and 5 RBI. Caleb Hershberger was 2-4 with 3 RBI. The West Liberty-Salem JV squad is back in action on Thursday, at home against Greeneview.
