🐣🧡 Hatching Some Sweet Learning in First Grade! 🧡🐣

Our first graders have an exciting (and adorable!) ongoing lab that’s just too cute not to share!

Students have been carefully observing eggs in their classroom incubators, and now the magic is happening… they’re starting to hatch! 🐥✨

So far:
🐣 Each class has welcomed at least one baby chick
🐣 Mrs. Stayrook’s class has 3 chicks
🐣 Mrs. Yoder’s class has 6 chicks

The sweet chirps and tiny flapping wings have quickly captured the hearts of our students! Beyond the cuteness, this hands-on experience is teaching them responsibility and care as they help look after the chicks until they’re ready to return to their farm home.

And trust us… the fun is just getting started! 💛

📸 Follow along as we share more pictures of our newest little Tigers as they hatch and meet their classmates!

🚌🧡🖤 Happy National School Bus Driver Appreciation Day! 🖤🧡🚌

Today, April 28, we celebrate National School Bus Driver Appreciation Day, but here in Ohio, we like to do things a little extra!

Did you know the Ohio Legislature officially designated the first Monday in May as Ohio School Bus Driver Appreciation Day? That means our state celebration is still to come on Monday, May 4, 2026!

From early morning routes to late-night athletic trips, our bus drivers are the first and last friendly faces many of our students see each day. They safely transport hundreds of thousands of students across Ohio each year, and thanks to their professionalism and the design of school buses, it remains the safest way for students to get to and from school.

Becoming a school bus driver isn’t easy. It requires specialized training, a CDL with endorsements, background checks, physical exams, and ongoing certification. These dedicated professionals go above and beyond to ensure our students arrive safely every single day.

So today, we celebrate, and next Monday, we celebrate again! 🎉
Be sure to take a moment this week to thank your bus driver for all they do to keep our Tigers safe. 🧡🐾

🐯🧡🖤 21st Annual White Tiger Award Ceremony 🖤🧡🐯

Last week, West Liberty-Salem High School proudly celebrated the 21st Annual White Tiger Award Ceremony, recognizing students in grades 9–12 who exemplify outstanding character, leadership, and a positive impact within our school community.

The White Tiger Award, established by longtime educator Angie Warye, honors students who go above and beyond in kindness, perseverance, and uplifting others—rare individuals, much like the majestic white tiger itself.

Angie’s legacy continues through the Angie Warye Foundation, which provides scholarships to recipients, supporting their future goals and continuing her passion for student success.

During the ceremony, teachers and staff shared heartfelt words about each honoree, highlighting the lasting impact these students have made at WL-S. Each recipient received a certificate, a personal letter, and the opportunity to apply for a Warye Foundation scholarship.

🧬🪱 Hands-On Science in Biology! 🪱🧬

Mrs. Harman’s biology students rolled up their sleeves and dove into a dissection lab as they studied worms!

Through this hands-on experience, students explored anatomy up close, gaining a deeper understanding of body systems and how organisms function. Labs like this bring science to life and give students the opportunity to learn in a real, engaging way.

Great work by our young scientists as they continue to explore the world of biology! 🧡🐾
