Is your child entering Kindergarten, 7th grade, or 12th grade this year and still needs their required school vaccinations? The School-Based Health Clinic at WL-S is here to help!

💉 Vaccine Clinic Details:
📅 Wednesday, September 10, 2025 – during school hours
📌 At the WL-S School-Based Health Clinic

Required Vaccines:

Kindergarten students can now be scheduled for their mandatory vaccines. A parent or legal guardian must be present during their appointment.
7th Grade: Tdap + MCV4 (Meningococcal)
12th Grade: 2 MCV4 doses (unless the first dose was given on/after the 16th birthday)

📚🐅 Welcome Back, Tigers! 🐅📚

West Liberty-Salem was buzzing with excitement Wednesday evening as we welcomed students and families back on campus for our Back-to-School Open House!

From Pre-K through 12th grade, students met their teachers, found desks and lockers, dropped off supplies, and got ready for another great school year. ✏️🎒

Adding to the fun, our FFA students greeted families with goats, a dog, and even some chickens 🐐🐓🐶 — turning the night into a mini petting zoo! What a memorable way to kick off the year!

🍎✨ Meet Mrs. Nicole McKenzie! ✨🍎

We’re excited to welcome Mrs. McKenzie to WL-S as the Intervention Specialist in the MD Room for the ESC. 🐅

Before joining us, she served in the same role at Triad High School. One of her favorite adventures was a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where she visited every Ripley’s attraction! 🌊🐚

Fun facts: Mrs. McKenzie has four kids, loves drawing cartoons 🎨, and is a fierce competitor in Mario Kart and Monopoly! 🎮🎲

Her passion at WL-S is to help every student feel seen, valued, and capable of success — academically and personally. She hopes to create a classroom where strengths are celebrated, communication is encouraged, and progress is measured by meaningful growth. Most of all, she wants her students to feel confident, supported, and proud of who they are. 💛🖤

🎨✨ Meet Our New Art Teacher – Ms. Caylee Karg! ✨🎨

We’re excited to welcome Ms. Karg to WL-S as our High School and 8th Grade Art Teacher! 🐅

Before joining us at WL-S, she taught K-12 Art at Jackson Center Schools. One of her most adventurous experiences was a white-water rafting trip in West Virginia—where she fell out of the raft and had to be pulled back in by her life jacket! 🚣‍♀️😂

Fun fact: Ms. Karg has deep Tiger roots—four of her family members are in the WL-S Athletic Hall of Fame: her grandpa (coaching), uncle (athletics), mom (athletics), and brother (state championship 4x400 relay team). 🏆💛🖤

Her goal at WL-S is to continue building on the incredible Arts program created by Mrs. Seymour, while encouraging students to find and share their own artistic voices. 🎭✏️🎨

Join the WL-S High School Marching Band Auxiliary for a majorette and color guard clinic - open to all students in grades 4-12! Whether you already have some experience or never tried it before, this is your opportunity to learn, perform, and have fun twirling a baton or spinning a flag!

🚧 Tiger Strong Fieldhouse Update 🐅💪

The WL-S skyline is changing! Steel for the new gym began going up on August 12, and our partners at Link Construction are working fast — they expect to have it all standing in just 14 business days. 👏

Every day brings us one step closer to an incredible new space for our students, athletes, and community. Stay tuned as the Tiger Strong Fieldhouse continues to take shape! 🏗️✨

🌟 New Staff Spotlight 🌟

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Anastasia Hiatt as our new MS/HS Vocal Teacher at West Liberty-Salem! 🎶🧡🖤

Ms. Hiatt studied Music Education at Indiana Wesleyan University (Go Wildcats! 🐾) and is excited to bring her passion for music to WL-S.

One of her favorite travel experiences was visiting Puerto Rico, where her grandparents were born. She enjoyed learning more about their families and childhoods while exploring the island’s culture and history.

Fun fact: Ms. Hiatt LOVES a creative Halloween costume. 🎃👻 Her college choir director even called her the “Halloween Costume G.O.A.T.”—a title she’s proud to carry on!

We are so excited to see the energy and creativity Ms. Hiatt will bring to our vocal program. Welcome to WL-S, Ms. Hiatt! 🎵🐾

👩‍🏫✨ Our 8th grade WEB Crew spent the day at Ohio Caverns building leadership skills that will help them welcome incoming 6th graders at Middle School Orientation! Through a variety of team games and problem-solving challenges, these students practiced working together, building confidence, and finding creative solutions—all skills they’ll use to help new Tigers navigate middle school for the very first time. 🐾 WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) is a special leadership program made up of 8th graders who are selected for this important role. Their mission is to ensure that every student feels included, supported, and ready to succeed at WL-S. 🧡🖤 We’re proud of our WEB Crew and can’t wait to see them in action at orientation! #TigersLead #WEBcrew #WhereEveryoneBelongs

We’re excited to welcome Mrs. Genny McDole to West Liberty-Salem as our new High School Spanish Teacher!✨

Mrs. McDole has taught in four different states and has experience across private, public, online, and higher education. She’s taught every grade level from K–12 through college, and most recently was a Spanish teacher at Northeastern High School in Clark County.

Her most unique role was serving as Dean of World Languages and International Students at a large private school in South Carolina, where she worked with high school students from around the world in a boarding program. 🌍

Fun fact: Mrs. McDole was born on Leap Day, 1976—how old is she? 😉
