West Liberty-Salem celebrated the culmination of the class of 2023 at Senior Awards Night on May 9, 2023. This special evening celebrates all seniors’ academic, athletic, fine arts and extra-curricular experiences, as well as the transition to the next chapter. High School Counselor Molly Smith offered the opening remarks and High School Principal Greg Johnson introduced the class of 2023 Valedictorian Brittany Neer and Salutatorian Christian Davis.

The class of 2023 will graduate 83 seniors. Fifty-two are college bound with 67% attending a 4-year university and 33% attending community college or trade school. Fifty-seven students earned College Credit Plus credits totaling 1168 hours, averaging 21 hours per student and earning a total of $532,608 in free college credit based on Ohio tuition costs.  Of those, 954 hours were completed in our building, and 214 were completed elsewhere. The max number of hours a student can earn in our building is 35, and this year we have 3 students who achieved that, Christian Davis, Logan Phillips, and Adam Stapleton. The West Liberty-Salem Senior with the most CCP hours is Makenna Smith.

Thirty five percent of the senior class is headed to the workforce.  four percent enlisted in the military, and 37 of the 52 college bound seniors received some type of scholarship.  Over $50,000 in local scholarships were awarded on senior night.
