Read

It is Read Across America Week, and boy, do the elementary staff know how to celebrate!! Each year, Mrs. Perdue, elementary librarian, organizes a week of fun activities that inspire and celebrate the love of reading. Teachers and staff shared their favorite places to read and what genres they enjoy. Students were joined by guest ‘celebrity’ readers who read special books, and the staff dressed up as their favorite children’s book character! The students really enjoyed that! Their costumes were judged by administrators including Liz Carter, Megan Wilkins, Emily Ridgeway and Chelsea Baldwin in 6 categories plus an overall winner. The results are in, but it was not an easy decision! *Best Accessories: Mrs. Bahan (Pinkalicious *Best Pair: Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Shivley (The Bad Guys *Best Villain: Mrs. Crowder (Big Bad Wolf) *Most Creative: Mrs. Cotrell (Pippi Longstocking) *Best Ensemble: Mr. Hollar, McGill & Mrs. Wilcoxin (Fly Guy & Fly Girl) *Best Look-A-Like Mrs. Bell (Laura Ingles) OVERALL BEST COSTUME: The first grader teachers as The Very Hungry Caterpillar! Congratulations to our winners, but THANK YOU to all of our teachers and staff that helped make this week so fun!
